Features

Net Net Net is a collection of architectural collages made out of glitch-out geometries wrapped by patterns representing a memory or a miscalculation.

The project was developed with p5.js v1.0.0, but a prototype function, saveGif(), from v1.6.0 was adapted together with the gifenc library by Matt DesLauriers to facilitate the creation and download of an animated GIF.

Composition

There are 2 types of outputs placing together random generated shapes and patterns:

  • Group of compact shapes limited to a specific part of the canvas
  • Group of large shapes without any limitations on the canvas

Frequency

There is a variety in the number of shapes assembled, ranging from 12 to 90.

Shapes

There are 25 geometrical shapes with a wide range of sizes.

Glitches

There's a randomly generated duplication glitch effect for the shapes with 4 types of outputs:

  • Glitches facing north-east
  • Glitches facing south-east
  • Glitches facing north-west
  • Glitches facing south-west

Palette

There are 8 color palettes based on two color models:

  • Black and white
  • Colorful
  • Monochrome in 3 variations:
    • Bright background and shapes
    • Dark pastel background and shapes
    • Light pastel background and shapes
  • Monochrome with several shades in 3 variations:
    • Bright background and shapes
    • Dark background and bright shapes
    • Light background and dark shapes

Patterns

There are 104 patterns born out of intended and unintended ideas.

Speed

There's a building animation piling up the shapes generated during the drawing phase at 4 different speeds:

  • Slow
  • Medium
  • Fast
  • Speedy Gonzalez

Interaction

There are 3 types of interaction with the artwork:

  • Click/tap canvas to toggle animation
  • Press 'r' to reset sketch (original state)
  • Press 's' to save a GIF animation
