ilithya

ilithya is a multidisciplinary artist from México, based in Hamburg, Germany. She has a BA in Marketing and is a self-taught programmer creating artworks with code and algorithms. Her preferred medium to produce is writing shaders in OpenGL Shading Language.

In high school, she discovered programming, but it wasn't until ten years later, while she worked as a graphic designer, that she slowly started learning it properly to bring her ideas to life and become also a front-end developer. She found creative coding in 2019, and through her ever longing interest in the arts, she immersed herself deeply into WebGL, becoming a creative developer and beginning her journey as a digital artist.

In 2020, the CODAME artist collective welcomed her for the first half a year of her artistic career. At the end of 2021 and the start of 2022, she took part in the Recurse Center programmers retreat to focus on machine learning studies and interactive experiences with shaders in GLSL.

She’s currently exploring on-chain generative art, machine learning, and new media art technologies to create art on the web, physical installations, audiovisual/visual art, and live performances. Her work stems from technology, feelings, illustration, music, and street art. Through her interest in creating unusual emotional and captivating visual experiences, maybe even interactive, she constantly pushes and pulls the intersection of art and technology.

ilithya co-hosts a twitch stream to learn and practice shaders with Eliza Struthers-Jobin called curiouslyminded since the end of 2020. The artists pair program and invite other artists to share their genius.

She's been featured by Agora Digital Art and Studio 13/16, Centre Pompidou.

Her work has been exhibited as a temporary installation or live coding performance in different countries via platforms like Night Lights Denver, Digital Art Month Paris, Neo Shibuya Tokyo, CADAF Art Fair New York, playrecordmint Basel, Iterations Amsterdam, Bright Moments México, Bideotikan Bilbao, and Refraction Portugal.

Profile image of Erin Wajufos

Erin Wajufos

Erin Wajufos is a generative artist, projectionist, and curator based in Brooklyn, New York. She attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston and graduated with a BFA in Experimental Filmmaking, focusing primarily on avant-garde cinema and animation.

Moving to New York in 2012 to pursue her career in film, Erin quickly fell in love with the real-time projection mapping and audio-reactive experiences in large-scale environments. She started teaching herself programming skills in her free time, primarily focusing on node-based applications such as MaxMSP and later, code.

Erin's artistic process is highly technical and experimental by using a variety of programs and tools, twisting their functionality to create new and unexpected outputs. This approach allows her to push the boundaries of what is possible within her medium and to explore new ways of creating and manipulating visual and auditory content.

In addition to her technical approach, Erin also incorporates narratives into her work, often using them as a means to raise awareness about important social and environmental issues. These narratives can be harsh or confrontational, serving as a powerful reminder of the urgency of these issues and the need for action.

She has performed live visuals for Carl Cox, Honey Dijon, Solomun, Dj Diesel, and Spirit Twin at Electric Zoo Festival, Brooklyn Mirage, Quantum Brooklyn, and Elsewhere.

Erin is the Community Administrator for Creative Code Art and co-directed the Creative Code Festival, which went on to win a Telly Award for Immersive and Mixed-Reality Experiences in 2021. She has exhibited work at Ars Electronica, Neo Shibuya TV, Atlanta Digital Art Week, Concrete House, Creative Code Festival, and in Times Square for Vizmesh.

Erin's work is a reflection of her curiosity, creativity, and passion for exploring the intersection of technology, art, and culture.
